Yosemite Rivers Alliance
Squarespace Website Design
What We Built and Why It Worked
Yosemite Rivers Alliance, formerly Tuolumne River Trust, partnered with our team to create a fully reimagined nonprofit website designed to elevate their mission, simplify content management, and strengthen donor engagement ahead of a major year-end fundraising season. Built on Squarespace 7.1, the new site brings together modern nonprofit web design principles, streamlined navigation, and a thoughtful SEO migration strategy to ensure long-term visibility for this expanding river conservation organization.
One of the organization’s biggest pain points was an aging website structure that had grown difficult for staff to maintain—especially with a large 20+ person team, growing programs, and years of legacy blog content. The new site solves those challenges through a StoryBrand-aligned framework that clearly communicates YRA’s mission, makes it effortless for supporters to donate, and gives staff the tools they need to keep content fresh without technical barriers.
This project demonstrates how strategic nonprofit website design, intentional content architecture, and clean Squarespace development can work together to turn an advocacy organization’s digital presence into a powerful engagement engine. For organizations looking to align mission storytelling with SEO foundations, our approach mirrors what we outline in our guide to effective nonprofit website content strategy and our core Squarespace web design services.
Client Context
Yosemite Rivers Alliance is a conservation nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring three major river systems through advocacy, education, and stewardship programs.
Our Strategy
We developed a streamlined site map, simplified team pages, and crafted a donor-first content hierarchy. Our SEO specialists planned a full blog migration, reviewed historical performance, and advised on how to preserve high-value content during the organizational rebrand.
What We Delivered
We built a fully redesigned Squarespace 7.1 website with a new navigation structure—Our Work, Our Impact, About Us, Get Involved, Support, and Stories—optimized for both users and search engines. Updated team pages now highlight leadership, board members, advisors, and staff in a clear, low-maintenance format. We implemented an enhanced donation experience with a dedicated “Support” hub and improved pathways for memberships, symbolic adoptions, and alternative giving methods. The site features custom-styled Constant Contact forms, migrated impact reports, and a homepage design aligned with their updated brand, complete with river-specific imagery and improved calls to action.
From Vision to Conversion
The Yosemite Rivers Alliance website redesign showcases how thoughtful nonprofit UX, StoryBrand clarity, and brand-driven content decisions can transform an advocacy organization’s digital presence. By combining streamlined information architecture with a donor-ready interface, the client now has a website that works harder for their mission—and is built to scale with their impact.
